As many of you have heard, Florida has joined 27 other states in the nation in recognizing your 2nd Amendment rights!.. As of July 01, if you are a law abiding resident of Florida, you will be able to carry a concealed weapon without a Concealed Weapons License.
In order to celebrate this huge step forward in the rights of Florida citizens, and to further educate you in what this means, Channel 13 Spectrum News Greg Pallone met with Maria Dockery of Femme Fatale ARMS & Training in Palm Bay Florida to talk about the new Law, Concealed Carry, Firearms Education, and the work we do to train women…and men…to defend themselves with firearms.
The passage of Permit-less Carry has benefits beyond the recognition of your rights, it now also enables those at risk of imminent harm (women with stalkers, those who have been threatened by abusers, etc.) to carry a firearm to defend themselves. If someone comes to Femme Fatale ARMS seeking training due to their lives being threatened, we will immediately get them into training. Prior to the passage of this law, the potential victim would have to wait many weeks for the processing of their Concealed Weapons License before they could carry a firearm. Much can happen to those with violent stalkers in that amount of time. With the new law they will be able to immediately start carrying a firearm to defend their lives. The number of people, particularly women, who fall into this category is much larger than most are aware. Nation Crime statistics show that 8% of women will have a potentially violent stalker in their lives. Florida has in excess of 10 million female residents. Statistically that is 800,000 women in Florida who will find themselves under such a threat. This legislation is life saving/life changing!
